Currier House is located at the corner of Lafayette and Market Streets in the heart of Havre de Grace's historic residential section.
In 1861, when Matthew Currier moved his family to it, the house was a narrow two story building that fronted on Lafayette Street. This original structure now forms the first floor dining room and a bedroom and bath on the second floor.
Over the years the house was substantially enlarged, renovated and modernized. A wrap-around porch was added and the front entry was relocated to its present Market Street location. In 1995 Jane Currier Belbot, Matthew's great-granddaughter, completed the renovations and additions needed for conversion to a Bed and Breakfast Inn.
Currier House is decorated with family heirlooms, artifacts and mementos. Its decor reflects the Havre de Grace late historical period when the town was a regional recreational center that attracted waterfowl hunters who gunned on the Flats and horsemen who wagered at the local thoroughbred track.
